Governance

Corporate governance is concerned with the way in which decisions are made and implemented by corporations and governments. Local Government is the level of government closest to the people, and its decisions can have the potential to impact all of our lives to a greater or lesser degree. It is critically important, therefore, that local governments make decisions in the best interests of their communities and safeguard councils from economic loss. At times, it can be difficult for councillors to differentiate between their personal interests and those of their communities when making decisions at a council meeting. For this reason, a significant amount of material has been published in recent years to assist councils and councillors to govern in a legal and transparent manner.
